11 Things I do on a Snow Day

We’ve gotten several snow days this winter already, and there’s a chance we’ll have a few more next week. While it’s pretty and all, I’m not going to lie – I’m sick of the snow! Around here it shuts everything down, and with the last blizzard, we were stuck inside the house for days. It’s just not good… so what do I do on a snow day?

11 Things I do on a Snow Day

Drink entirely too much coffee. As in, I make an entire pot… and proceed to drink the whole thing. Then I get jittery and have all this nervous energy and nowhere to use it, except maybe shoveling.

Make cookies. I swear, every time it snows I make cookies with Abbie. It’s the first thing I can think to do with her that keeps her attention… and then we eat far too many of them. Just not good for Weight Watchers.

Let Abbie spend entirely too much time with electronics. The kindle, the Wii, my tablet – she gets entirely too much time with all of them because we can’t take her outside. It’s torture for all of us.

Shovel snow. Self explanatory.

Spend entirely too much time in my kitchen. For some reason every time I’m stuck at home for a while, I always, always end up back in the kitchen. I’m a boredom eater… even when I have a million things I could be doing.

Am simultaneously thankful for the day off yet going crazy because we’re stuck in the house. I hate being trapped. I hate the ice that keeps us from going anywhere. There are days I could be home all day… but snow days never seem to be them.

Count the hours until naptime. The struggle is real. Thank goodness Abbie still naps.

Check my work email. Nope, I definitely don’t do that. There’s no way I could do actual work and be with Abbie, so I just let everything wait until I go back.

Think about cleaning, but never actually go through with it. I’m always thinking how I need more time to clean, yet when given the opportunity, I do everything I can to avoid it. I seriously hate cleaning.

Think about watching something on the DVR, but end up watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix instead. Because nothing beats Gilmore Girls, and why not have your DVR 70% full?

Get sad when it’s over. Because it’s time to be a responsible adult again.

What do you do on snow days?

Definitely too many electronics and a nice cup of hot cocoa!

Yes on thinking about cleaning. Though I was rather ambitious during our most recent snow days (where I wound up with a four-day weekend) and actually managed to clean my office and kitchen.
