5 Things You Can Do Now to Protect Your Baby’s Health

I feel like our health is one of those things that when we have it, we take it for granted, but when we don’t, we’re always trying to chase it. Protecting our health is something that should be ingrained into our everyday life, starting with infancy. It’s so important to instill healthy habits in our kids and help them keep them for life. I’ve shared my top 10 healthy habits to instill in your little ones below, but let me know if there are any you would add!

Looking to protect your baby's health? Here are five things you can do now to set them up to be healthy for life!

Get regular checkups.

This includes a well-check at the pediatrician or doctor, regular dental checkups, and vision checkups. Little ones need to be checked at regular intervals to be sure they’re growing appropriately, meeting milestones, and more. Ella just had her 9 month check a few weeks ago and rocked it, and we’ll go again at 12 months. It’s an easy habit to keep – whenever I leave the pediatrician, I make the appointment for next time so it’s already done. Pro tip for working parents – always make your appointment on a Friday to watch for any fevers or reactions from vaccinations!

Wash hands and practice good hygiene.

While Ella isn’t old enough to wash her own hands just yet, Abbie is. She used to fight us on it, but her preschool actually taught her to sing her ABCs while washing her hands, and now I can’t tear her away from it! Handwashing is so important to stop the spread of germs, especially as cold and flu season starts to head our way!

Introduce a healthy diet.

Ella is still primarily on breastmilk, but girlfriend LOVES some food. We do a combination of purees and baby-led weaning so she gets to experience lots of different tastes and textures, and we give her everything from zucchini to chicken. I also eat a varied diet myself, so many of those tastes are surely coming through my breastmilk!

Give the right supplements.

We started Ella on Evivo’s probiotics a few weeks back, and they have been amazing for her. I take a probiotic myself, so I love that Evivo is specifically formulated to work with breastmilk and restore B. infantis to Ella’s gut – did you know 97% of babies are born without it? Evivo also has helped to keep her tummy regular, and it’s started a habit we’ll be continuing!

Set up healthy sleep habits.

Sleep is critical to healthy development and brain function. As an adult, I seem to never get enough of it, but I want to do my best to stress the importance of it with my kids. My girls have consistent bedtimes (with the rare exception of a special occasion) and I sleep trained them both so they could learn how to go to sleep on their own. It’s one of the things I’m most strict on as a mom! Plus, when the kids sleep, mama gets to sleep, and that means everyone wins.

What would you add to my list? Have you tried Evivo? Head here to grab yours and use code ev9-8ts335e5 to get $10 off your starter kid (first 50 readers only)!
