  • Our Jellystone Getaway

    Our Jellystone Getaway

Summer is here, and with that comes pool time, way more time outside, and vacations. Our lives are incredibly busy – with two working parents and two small kids, we’re always running doing something! Sometimes you just need to get a way from it all, and taking a long weekend away was just exactly what we needed. Sometimes there are places right to get away right under your nose.

Last weekend, we headed to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp and Resort out in Luray, Virginia – only about an hour and a half away from us. Now, I’m not usually a camping person – but this was beyond perfect. The camp is settled in the mountains and close to both Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park. The setting is gorgeous, and there is so much to do at the part itself.

Taste of Virginia Fun at Kings Dominion

Taste of Virginia Fun at Kings Dominion

Summer is on its way, and with it comes all the things we’ve been missing out with the cold – warmer temperatures, pools, and amusement parks. Last year, we introduced Abbie to King’s Dominion and she had the best time. When we told her we were going back again last weekend, she was beyond excited. The bigger she gets, the more fun we have doing family outings.

My 2017 Word of the Year and Goals

My 2017 Word of the Year and Goals

Happy 2017! I know so many people were so ready for the new year to start, but I for one am a little sad to see 2016 go – after all, it’s the year Ella was born and will always hold a special place in my heart. On the other hand, there’s something so refreshing about a new year and a new start on things. I’ve never been a fan of dedicated New Year’s resolutions… because I don’t believe they work. I like to start my goals shortly after I think of them and start each day as the first…

    Christmas 2016

    Christmas 2016

Well, Christmas 2016 is in the memory books. I hope you all had an amazing holiday weekend, and I wanted to pop in to share a little bit of ours (get ready for a photo dump). We’re fortunate that our parents live close by, so we were able to spend time with both sides of the family. I actually really loved that Christmas fell on a Sunday this year, since that meant Chris was home Christmas Eve day as well.  The girls let us sleep in (seriously, they were both still in bed at 8am!) and we headed to Weight…

To my Husband, Before we Become a Family of Four

To my Husband, Before we Become a Family of Four

Late pregnancy is no picnic. For the most part, I’ve been fairly active and healthy this pregnancy. I’ve been fortunate to not have complications and to be able to go about my normal life and routines. That doesn’t mean it’s been easy, and it’s been a challenge for our family, and my husband especially, as well as myself. So, to my husband, before we become a family of four… I want to start by saying thank you. I know this pregnancy has been a challenge for you as well as me. I want you to know that you’ve been amazing…

    Fall, Fun, and Pumpkins

    Fall, Fun, and Pumpkins

For the past few years, I’ve wanted to take Abbie to the pumpkin patch, but it never quite worked out. I also didn’t think she’d get a ton out of it, so it wasn’t tops on my list to go, but this year, we finally went out for some fall fun. (I also want to point out the shirt she’s wearing… and she picked it herself. I think I’ve successfully made my girl a Hokie fan.) Yesterday we took the morning to head over to Cox Farms for some fall fun, and Abbie had a blast. In addition to pumpkins,…

    Walking With Grandma

    Walking With Grandma

Last week was a busy and rough one for me. Tons going on, very little time to myself. I was absent from here. Things were crazy at work and at home. And on Thursday, I had one of the worst traffic days I’ve had in a while – Abbie and I didn’t get home until about 6:45 (I left work at 5). In general, I was in a pretty crabby mood and just wanted to get home. It happened when I was just about there. I had turned onto the road our neighborhood is off of. I was waiting at…

    Family Photos – Our Teaser!

    Family Photos – Our Teaser!

We already got back a teaser of the family photos we took a few weeks ago…and needless to say, I’m in love.  Hire Mathy.  Seriously.  Here’s some photos from our teaser – I did add my watermark, but all photos are courtesy of Mathy Shoots People. I love how they turned out and can’t wait to see the rest!  What do you think?

    Perspective.

    Perspective.

Yesterday started out as not a particularly good day.  Abbie had been up for an hour from 3:30am to 4:30am (I think she might be cutting another tooth).  Chris and I bickered in the morning.  I had to leave my car at the body shop and fell in the parking lot, and I sprained or strained my foot in the process.  Abbie had a chicken nugget at daycare, and I didn’t know how I felt about that since I’ve been trying to avoid giving her junk food.  I was moody and crabby and just wanted to mope. Midday, Chris texted…

    Our Weekend–Chris’ Family Reunion

    Our Weekend–Chris’ Family Reunion

Happy Monday!  This weekend was a busy one for us – it was Abbie’s first road trip.  We drove up to Canastota, NY, where my mother-in-law grew up, for their family reunion. I have to be honest, I was super nervous about how Abbie would do with such a long car ride.  Without traffic and stops, google estimated the trip at 6 hours and 17 minutes.  Very different from Abbie’s normal 15 minute rides to daycare and the one hour drive to my parents.  The plan was to leave early Friday morning and hope she would sleep more in the…
