What a crazy busy weekend! Happy Monday!
I threw my friend Nichole’s bridal shower on Sunday, so I spent the weekend getting ready! I took Friday off to bake, run errands, and get everything ready.
Saturday Chris and I headed to Weight Watchers, then went out to Amphora Diner for breakfast…where Abbie had her first piece of rye toast…and loved it. I have a smart kid.
Sunday morning I loaded the car and Abbie and I headed down for Richmond for Nichole’s shower. We picked up my mom and sister on the way, and I’m so glad they were able to come – they were both a HUGE help.
This might be my favorite picture I’ve EVER taken. |
It was a great time, and Nichole said she really enjoyed herself. The food came from Martin’s in Richmond, as well as Nichole’s mom. I made the cake and cupcakes – they were both vanilla cake infused with champagne syrup. The cupcakes were topped with a vanilla swiss meringue buttercream and fondant bow, and the cake was filled with raspberry mousse and the same buttercream before being topped with fondant. I made the blue popcorn favors as well – I found the recipe here, and just did Tiffany blue instead of pink!
Once the shower was over, we packed up and headed home…but not without the dreaded weekend traffic. At first, it was fine because Abbie fell asleep…but she woke up about an hour and 20 minutes in…was good for a few minutes, then started having a meltdown. It wasn’t fun. I ended up staying at my parents’ for a little while just to get her calmed down so I could make the rest of the drive, and I was EXHAUSTED. I had been up way too late for too many nights, and needed a break. Unfortunately, Abbie’s starting to get separation anxiety, and would cry whenever I left the room, so I couldn’t take the power nap I wanted. I got back on the road at about 8:15…and the hour drive home was not easy. From now on, Chris is definitely going with me when I go 2 or more hours away with Abbie – I need a second driver! I was so glad to get home.
So that was our weekend. How was yours?
Linking up with Sami!
