We had a great day celebrating Abbie’s birthday yesterday! I truly think she had a great day, and I hope every birthday to come is just as fun. We started the day bright and early, heading into Abbie’s room to wake her up and sing happy birthday. We didn’t snap a picture, but when I finished singing happy birthday, she reached up from her crib and gave me a hug. I think she knew it was a special day.
We headed out to the Baltimore National Aquarium just before 8:30, and after a quick stop for gas and coffee (where a crazy lady in the drive through yelled at us for no reason), we were on our way. We got there right around 10, when the aquarium opened.
It ended up that only Chris’ brother Doug and his wife Erica were able to make it, but Abbie had so much fun hanging out with her Aunt and Uncle.
The aquarium was really a perfect choice – lots to look at, space to run around, and one of Abbie’s favorite things – escalators.
She spent lots of time looking at the dolphins with Aunt Erica – they may have been her favorite part!
Afterward, we grabbed lunch at Phillips before heading home. We must have worn Abbie out because she fell asleep in her car seat on the ride home… and she almost never does that. After finishing her nap at home, we let her open up her presents.
I really tried to get her a mix of both fun and semi-education things – Minnie’s Bowtique dress up figures, some puzzles, a Doc McStuffins backpack, and her favorite thus far (and a last minute find because they’re always out of it) – Skye from Paw Patrol.
Her Uncle Greg then came over for dinner, and we sang happy birthday once again (with my family on FaceTime).
All in all, a pretty fantastic birthday. We now have a TWO year old!

Aww, I’m glad she had a happy birthday! Her face in the last picture is too funny! Like “why is my cake on fire?”
I just realized I never responded to this comment, and I have to tell you, when I first read it, I burst out laughing and Chris looked at me like I was crazy. 🙂
