To My Husband on His Birthday

To My Husband on His Birthday

I know today is a historic day in our country, but it’s also a big day in our household. Today my husband turns 36. I’m going to keep it short and sweet. This guy – he gets me. He lifts me up when I’m down. He works hard to support our family. He’s a partner to me in every sense of the word. He’s the best dad to our two girls, and I’m so thankful every day that he’s mine. Have I told the story of the reason we started dating? We had been friends for a while and he…

To my Husband, Before we Become a Family of Four

To my Husband, Before we Become a Family of Four

Late pregnancy is no picnic. For the most part, I’ve been fairly active and healthy this pregnancy. I’ve been fortunate to not have complications and to be able to go about my normal life and routines. That doesn’t mean it’s been easy, and it’s been a challenge for our family, and my husband especially, as well as myself. So, to my husband, before we become a family of four… I want to start by saying thank you. I know this pregnancy has been a challenge for you as well as me. I want you to know that you’ve been amazing…

Five Years

Five Years

Five years. Today my husband and I celebrate five years of marriage. The other day we were talking about how five years of marriage seems like such a big number, such a milestone. There’s something a bit more substantial to it, saying you’ve been married for five years. I would say it’s gone by in a flash, but the truth is, it hasn’t. I’ve enjoyed every single one of these five years. Like the first year where we were learning to live with one another and all our quirky habits. Where we adopted the rule of I cook, he cleans…

Before We Were Three

Before We Were Three

Today is my husband’s birthday. As Abbie continually insists that we make him cupcakes (green this time, and it took a lot of convincing to sway her from pink), it makes me think of how the way we celebrate his birthday has changed over the years, and how different it was before we were a family of three. Before we were three, we’d probably have gone out to dinner and a movie – nothing crazy, but a little bit special. Nowadays, we just have family time. We like to spend that time together – so many of my memories from…

35 Years

35 Years

35 years ago today, my parents woke up on their wedding day. They headed to the temple and got married in a Jewish ceremony much like my own. They didn’t know what was headed their way, but they knew they loved each other. They’ve gone through a lot in those 35 years. They had a few years of marriage, then I came along. They moved to Virginia, leaving everything they knew in New York. They lost their parents, made new friends, made a new home. My three sisters came along. They’ve changed jobs, hairstyles, and changed as people. But through it…

Do You Watch TV with your Spouse?

Do You Watch TV with your Spouse?

So, Chris is taking over the blog today. I always love when he writes stuff to share with you guys because you get a glimpse into the man I married and a little bit different take on our lives. So…here’s my husband. When I was younger one of my favorite television shows to watch was Married With Children. It was crude and hysterical and my favorite image was Al Bundy watching television with his hands in his pants. Its something I strived for now that I’m an adult and a husband. The side effect, of course, is that Jess wants…
