How to Prepare for Fall Family Fun

Fall is finally here at long last, and with that comes all my favorite activities of the year. There are fall festivals, apple picking, and the pumpkin patch – so many great ways to enjoy the season with your families. Without the right planning though, they can turn disastrous, so it’s important to prepare in advance to make sure everything goes smoothly. I am always over prepared for things, so I’m sharing my tips below on what you should bring with you below!

The right supplies for your littlest ones. Whether you have kids in diapers or potty training, it’s essential to make sure your little ones are covered. We have always trusted Huggies diapers when we’re out and about, and the fall is no exception. Since Ella is always moving around, we love the Huggies Little Movers Plus Diapers. They fit well thanks to their contoured shape and snug fit waistband, and I love the double grip strips that secure the diaper in place. If you have a little one that’s potty training, make sure you’re prepared there too! While we’re past the potty training stage now with my oldest, I remember all too well the challenges  – and how Pull-Ups Plus Training Pants were a lifesaver for us. You can pick up both at Costco right now through 10/22 with $8.50 off Huggies Little Snugglers Plus (which we used when Ella wasn’t quite so mobile) and Little Movers Plus Diapers, or $7.00 off Pull-Ups Plus! It’s a great way to stock up and make sure you have all you need for the fall and beyond.

Snacks and water. My girls could live off of snacks. Make sure to pack up all their favorites in bags so they’re ready to eat, and lots of water for both them and you. Our girls are partial to crackers, pretzels, fruit, and puffs, but personalize it to exactly what your family likes for snacks! I’ll usually throw granola or protein bars in the bag for me and Chris as well!

Comfortable clothes. This is not the time for your fancy heeled booties that make your feet hurt. So many fall activities involve walking around outside, so make sure your clothes and footwear are appropriate and comfortable. Flat boots, sneakers, jackets, hats, and scarves are all necessary – and it helps that they’re some of my favorite clothes to wear!

Ways to carry around your little ones. This will be totally dependent on where you’re going and the ages of your kids. Going to a festival in a city? Bring a stroller or a portable wagon. Going on a hike? Tote your little ones in a carrier. Little ones get tired so easily, so make sure you’ve got a way to carry them back when they do!

Realistic expectations. As with anything with kids, sometimes things don’t go as planned. They may not want to go on the hayride or paint the pumpkin. They may be scared of a haunted house or too timid to pull an apple from a tree. You know your kids best – be realistic about what they will and won’t do and adjust your expectations as needed.

Let me know if there’s anything you would add to my list! Make sure you head to Costco to grab your Huggies Little Snugglers Plus, Huggies Little Movers Plus, or Pull-Ups Plus for your fall family outings!
