One of the great things about summer is all the fun kids get to have outside – just being kids. This weekend, we celebrated at another birthday party, and Abbie had the best time playing outside.
We were celebrating our friends’ son Sawyer, but Sawyer also has an older sister, Ava. We were at her birthday earlier this year, so Abbie remembers Ava (I think). And of course to Abbie, big kids are always more fun. She’s always tried to keep up with them. With the exception of the babies at daycare that she spends her week with, Abbie’s never really had any interest in kids younger than her. To her, the little kids are boring. Even as an infant, Abbie was always watching the big kids, always trying to do what they were doing, and trying to be included in their games. Saturday was no exception.
We got there early, and I’m so glad we did. I don’t know that I’ll ever forget arriving on Saturday. Ava instantly greeted Abbie with a hug, saying “I haven’t seen you in WEEKS!” before leading her away to play. Abbie didn’t even look back at us. After all, the big kids are always more fun, right?

The two of them playing are absolutely adorable!
It really was so sweet.
Too cute! I remember as a kid always wanting to be part of what the big kids were doing too!
Yep! She had so much fun.
Awe. That’s so cute. My twins are like that. They love playing with the big kids. My oldest who is 5 is just the opposite. He likes to play with the little ones.
That’s so cool that the oldest wants to play with the little ones! It all works out then 🙂
Connor is the exact same way as Abby. He can careless about kids his age. The older (and bigger) the better.
Well, I’m glad it isn’t just Abbie that thinks that way 🙂
So precious! I really like the first and the last picture. I bet you’ll always remember Saturday. I remember chaperoning for my older son’s K class. He and a cute little redhead just started holding hands when we were walking along a trail. It melted my heart!

It’s so amazing to see them start making connections!
They sure are! Cute pictures! My two big kids love babies and toddlers so they always happily take over at parties and playdates!
Oh that’s so sweet!
My daughter is the same way to some degree…she thinks and acts older, but she loves babies.
It’s so sweet to see!
