Happy Friday! We made it through another week of summer! Rather than go on and on about how I’m excited the weekend is here, I’ll just get to my five…
ONE
Today is Eid, so Abbie’s daycare is closed today since our provider is celebrating. Abbie got a fun treat too – an entire day with her Aunt Melanie. My sister took today off work and is doing us a big favor by hanging out with our girl today. She came up last night, and I told Abbie in the morning that she was going to see Mel that night… and she asked about her the entire ride home. She adores Melanie and I love every bit of it. After all, aunts are like mommies, but more fun, right? I know they’ll have a great day today and Abbie’s in great hands.
TWO
I swear, sometimes I think I spend too much money, and other times I think I must be cheaper than everyone else. Especially when it comes to Abbie’s clothes. with the Nordstrom sale going on, people are inevitably talking about those sales… and I just don’t find their sale stuff reasonable for Abbie. There is no way I’m spending $40 on a dress or shirt for Abbie, unless it’s specifically for a special occasion. Give me Old Navy sales and consignment, please.
THREE
Speaking of the Nordstrom sale, I did take a look and find a few things for myself for work… but I’m going to give it a few days. I know everyone is all “hurry, don’t miss out” on this, but I need a few days to make up my mind and make sure I really need things. Plus, I have a Stitch Fix box headed my way next week and I’ll probably want something from that. The Nordstrom sale is open until August 2, so I figure I’ve got plenty of time.
FOUR
This summer has just been crazy for us, and next week has some fun in it too – I’m taking my sister down to VT for orientation next week. I’m super excited to be in Blacksburg again, get some new stickers for my new car (it seriously feels naked right now without any stickers on it!), and spend some time with two of my sisters.
FIVE
Next month has another crazy thing thrown in for me – my office is moving buildings. We’re combining two offices (we have an office in MD that’s merging in with us) and moving to a more open floorplan. Of course, that means the administrative team has to take on the bulk of the actual moving, so it’ll be an interesting month and definitely some overtime. I’m ready to get it started so we can get it finished as soon as possible, but as always, these things take time. We’ll see how it goes!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I’m totally with you on the clothing thing! Most of my kids’ clothing is from Target, and usually on sale. I mean, I have a hard time spending $40 on something for myself, let alone for my kids who will just grow out of it in 6 months. 🙂
See, I’m way more likely to spend it on myself, because I know that’ll it will fit me for a while, and some things can be tailored. With Abbie’s clothes? No way!
I love that Abbie is talking about her aunt coming over, and asking questions! That is so good! I don’t blame you for shopping at Old Navy for Abbie’s clothes. I shopped at Gymboree, Gap, Macy’s and outlets for my sons, and I never bought anything else it was on sale. I also used almost all of my first sons’s clothes for my second son. They still joke about it! Today they’re 14 and 16 and don’t care about clothes at all. They like Abercrombie, which is expensive, but I won’t buy their school t-shirts and shorts (we live in FL, so only shorts!) until they are on sale in mid-September. They can do the first month of school in last year’s clothes-no big deal. Going to college orientation sounds fun! It’s great that you’re so close to your sisters.
Have a good weekend!
Susan
I seriously don’t understand how people spend so much on kid’s clothes when they’re little. But then again, not my money!
Don’t know if you get the Hokie Collection catalog, but the bookstore has a great “I’d rather be in Blacksburg” (or something along that lines) bumper sticker.
I picked up a few and I may be back in October for more 🙂
I have never even been inside of a Nordstrom’s. I’m totally not fashionable. While I’m rocking yoga pants daily, even when I worked, I wasn’t a fashionista. I’m far too self conscious and way too frugal.
