Something I’ve really been working on the past few years is leading a healthier lifestyle. Between watching what I eat, being more active (thanks to my Fitbit!), and adopting healthier habits, I feel I’ve made pretty good progress. One of the things I used to be pretty terrible at was taking vitamins every day. Seriously, I always forgot even though I had them in the house, and I knew I’d feel better taking them. I just couldn’t seem to remember, no matter what I did. Then, I started getting serious about making sure I took them.
First, I went and picked up vitamins and supplements to address the things I needed. I checked out Nature Made’s site to see what I needed help with, then headed over to Wal-Mart to check out the display and pick up a few essentials. I chose a few: Prenatals (my OB prefers me to take them versus a general vitamin), B-Complex for energy, and the Hair, Skin & Nails complex – because who doesn’t want some help there? The display is super organized and it was really easy to find the ones I needed.
I love that Nature Made is easy to find at my local Walmart and super affordable. Nature Made is the nation’s #1 best-selling brand of vitamins, minerals and supplements* to help you support your nutritional gaps, and it is also the #1 Pharmacist recommended supplement in 9 different categories.**
Next, I kept my vitamins in plain sight, where I would always see them. For me? That actually means the fridge. I’m already in the habit of taking a daily probiotic, which I have to keep in the fridge, so I just put my Nature Made vitamins and supplements right there with them! Obviously, that location doesn’t work for everyone, but find the one that works for you! My mom uses a pill case. You might keep them on your nightstand or on the kitchen counter – wherever you will see them on a regular basis to remind you to take them.
Third, I found a time of day that worked for me. I take a daily medication every morning that is supposed to be taken on its own, so I take all my vitamins and supplements in the evening, right after dinner. That gives my medication plenty of time to absorb and spaces everything out. I have also heard that if your stomach is sensitive at all, you should take your vitamins and supplements either with food or just before bed so you have the night to digest it. Find the time that works for you and your lifestyle.
Finally, I set a reminder! I have a simple recurring reminder on my phone every night at 8:30 – if I haven’t remembered my vitamins and supplements by then, the reminder prompts me so I don’t forget! It’s a simple trick, but so helpful.
Nature Made is also running a challenge – the 30 Day Healthy Habit Builder. It has you choose a goal to work on for 30 days – everything from getting energized and managing cholesterol to sleeping better – all things we can use help with! You then pick four habits to work on to help you with that goal, and you are also entered to win a grand prize of $5,000!*** The best part – it’s free! I love free ways to challenge me to improve my lifestyle.
