3 Unexpected Uses for Dawn

This post is sponsored by Dawn but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

You know those weird little quirks you grow up with that make you who you are? Well, I’ve got a little story for you today. When I was a kid, my mom was always trying to save money. I’m the oldest of four children, and she bought a lot of things in the generic version, with just a few things she was always brand loyal on. One of those things is something I still purchase regularly to this day – Dawn dish soap.

No matter what other brands she tried, my mom always came back to Dawn, and as an adult, I’ve never bought anything else. Since it’s powerful yet gentle, we are able to use less of it for the same sink of dishes! While it’s definitely a staple in my house for dishes, did you know you can use it in the rest of your house too? I’ve listed three of my favorite unexpected ways to use Dawn below – you may find a few tips! Now with Dawn’s newest formulas, Dawn Ultra and Dawn Total Clean, Lemon Twist, getting my dishes (and other cleaning!) done is faster than ever.

  • Use it in the shower. I bought an inexpensive dish wand, then filled it with a little Dawn Ultra and water to keep in the shower. Because it’s right there and so easy, I’m then able to give the shower a quick scrub before I get out, with none of the worries of harsher chemicals. I figure if they can use Dawn Ultra to clean baby ducks (who else remembers those commercials?), then it’s perfect to get my shower clean too!

  • Clean your makeup brushes. I clean my makeup brushes about once a week. One of my favorite methods is to mix Dawn Ultra, warm water, and a little bit of oil (whatever you have on hand – I usually use some vitamin E or jojoba oil, but you could use any oil that’s liquid at room temperature). Swirl it around in the bottom of a glass, then place your brushes in, making sure that the liquid isn’t too high. You want to avoid soaking the brushes near the ferrule and dislodging the glue. I let it sit for a few minutes to soak off all the product, then do a quick rinse, reshape, and air dry. They’re clean and soft afterward, and it’s the best way I’ve found to get them clean – not to mention it’s much more economical than buying a brush cleaner!

  • Clean Crayon off your furniture. I have a two-year-old, which of course means crayon can inadvertently get in places it shouldn’t. More than once, we’ve ended up with crayon on our white coffee table. A little bit of Dawn Ultra and a soft scrub sponge takes it right off!

I know there are countless other uses out there, but those are three of my most used! I love how a little goes a long way with Dawn Ultra, so these bottles I picked up at Sam’s club will last us a long time! I grabbed both the 90 ounce Dawn Ultra Concentrated Dish Detergent to refill my current bottles and the Dawn Ultra Total Clean – Lemon to add a fresh scent to my cleaning.

Dawn Ultra contains 3x more grease cleaning power,* that means 50% less scrubbing! Pick yours up at Sam’s Club (or SamsClub.com!) today, and let me know what other uses you’ve found for Dawn – I would love to add more to my list! Not to mention, a drop of Dawn and the grease is gone!

They recently updated their packaging to include those precious ducks, so keep an eye out for the new package at Sam’s Club!
