How is my baby EIGHT months old? Here’s this month’s stats!
Weight: I think closing in on 20 pounds!
Health: All good.
Sleep: Ugh. This kid. Did you know there’s a 8-10 month sleep regression? We hit it early – it’s been a rough few weeks. Abbie’s been waking multiple times a night again, needing to be rocked, fed, occasionally changed…it’s not good. I know I did it when she was really little, but it’s killing me! From what I’ve read, baby sleep goes haywire when they hit big milestones…and she’s definitely had that this month. I’m hoping it’ll settle down soon so I can get some sleep! She’s usually good at daycare, taking 2 1.5-2.5 hour naps. Naps at home are still rough.
Social: She’s been babbling for ages now, but it’s finally starting to sound like words! This past week she started babbling “Da-da-da-da.” Neither Chris or I feel like it’s purposeful (she says it at random, not just with Chris), but it definitely suggests that’ll be her first word once she connects the dots!
Diet: Abbie drinks 3-4 8 ounce bottles of formula at daycare. She also has food for breakfast (usually fruit, full-fat greek yogurt, and some scrambled eggs). On the weekend, we usually give her lunch but haven’t really sent lunch to daycare yet – probably starting this month. She also eats dinner with us, and I just give her bits of what we’re having.
Clothes: 9 month and starting to get snug! Time to stock up on 12 month clothes. Carter’s, can you please have a sale???
Baby Gear Love: Definitely playing with her toys more. Since she’s now mobile, we’ve been using the pack n’ play more to keep her contained while we do things, and that’s helped a lot. She still loves her jumperoo, and now she’s loving anything NOT hers she can get her hands on. This includes our keys, mommy’s iPhone, cat toys, dvd cases…silly girl.
Crying: Only when she needs something or is tired…or in the middle of the night. Ugh.
Likes: She loves going up and down the stairs, and loves to move – she’s so proud when she crawls across the room! Splashing in the bathtub has started again too. And you know how she used to like getting her diaper changed? Not anymore – little girl does not like to sit still!
Nicknames: Abs, Abbiecakes, Bug, Buggie
Postpartum: Feeling ok. I’m a little stalled on my weight loss, but it’s been a stressful and busy few weeks. Hopefully I’ll get my momentum going again soon!
Milestones: Crawling, pulling up in the crib (once so far), babbling with consonants
Abbie,
I can’t even tell you how much I love you. Even when you drive me crazy (like with your sleeping habits), a smile from you just melts my heart. You are such a sweet, happy, silly girl and I can already tell you know you are loved. My favorite things are playing with you at the end of my day, your laughter, and your excitement as you discover new things. You love to explore. You love new foods and eating dinner with us. It seems you just got here, but before I know it, you’ll be too big to cuddle up on my chest at night. I’m trying to savor every second you’re little, since it’ll only happen once. You are the best thing we’ve ever done. We love you so much.
Love, Momma
