Oh my word. It feels like it’s been ages since I did a good old-fashioned catch up post around here, so that’s what’s on the docket for today. Here’s what we’ve been up to for the past few weeks!
Abbie got a haircut. Not just a trim, a full cut – she told me before we went that she wanted her hair cut like me, and that’s exactly what she got. I take her to the same amazing stylist who does my hair (hi Kayleigh!) and Abbie walked in and proudly said, “I want my hair cut like Mommy.” That’s exactly what she got! Her expression is kind of crazy in this photo, but that’s 4.5 for you.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about cutting her hair short after letting it grow so long, but we all love it! It’s so much easier to take care of and she’s actually let me put clips in it, and it even feels a bit thicker since the cut. She looks so much more grown up, too!
Ella is seven months old already, and that is just crazy to me. These two girls of mine make each other smile all the time and I just love watching their bond grow. On another note, I’ve now been back to work for almost four months and mentally, I’m so over pumping. I’ve started counting down to her one year birthday just so I have an end date for pumping at work. Less than five months to go.
So many people are posting about summer and the fact that they’re so excited about it, but for us, it’s business as usual. Working full-time means our summers are mostly just like the rest of year – except hotter. We do have a few trips coming up, but our summer fun will mostly be restricted to the weekends. We did go to the Herndon Festival over the weekend, and Abbie had a blast on all the rides while Ella hung out in the stroller.
After talking about it for a few months, we have made the decision to switch Abbie to a more structured daycare setting. She’s more and more been looking to have friends her age to play with during the day, and she really wants to learn. We found a preschool program at a local center that we think will be a good fit, and she starts next week. I have all kinds of emotions about it, but I think they deserve their own post.
I have been flat-out squeezed for time lately and just can’t seem to get any time for myself during the workweek. By the time we get home, make dinner, and get the girls to bed, it’s 8:30 or 9pm, and it’s time to prep for the next day. I know eventually it’ll get easier, but I’m overwhelmed on a daily basis right now. I’m hopeful it’ll get a bit easier soon – I miss my blogging time and regular posting, and of course, that’s always the first thing to go when I’m pressed for time.
What have you been up to lately? What fun summer plans do you have?

Abbie looks so adorable with shorter hair! Ella has the most gorgeous blue eyes! It’s tough having two little ones and working full-time. It will get easier as they get older. It is so hot here in Florida in the summer that I look forward to winter for the cooler temps. I’m not a hot weather person, but I need the light and blue skies.

Love love love her haircut! I’ve been trying to convince Abigail to let me cut her super long hair like that but nope, she says she wants Rapunzel hair. Sigh.
