Currently…

It’s been a little while since I did one of these currently posts. They’re often some of my favorite to read, so I thought I’d pop in with one. Here’s what we’ve been up to!

Reading… nothing. I know, I know. I keep trying to start things and nothing is sticking right now. I sometimes go through phases that I just don’t have interest in reading anything, then I’ll suddenly read several books in a row.

Wearing… So many dresses! It’s going to be in the 80s all week…. Spring and summer are coming on fast here in Virginia, as evidenced by our flower bushes blooming! I didn’t even know these bushes were going to flower and they’re gorgeous! The things you find out after buying a house.

 Spring Flowers

Listening… to Britney’s new song. I can’t help it, I’m a 90s girl at heart.

Making… tacos for dinner! Yay for Cinco de Mayo on a Tuesday so I can have an excuse to eat all the tacos. (Who am I kidding, I don’t need excuses to eat tacos.)

Wishing… I was having an easier time with my weight loss journey. It’s HARD. I try to find balance but something always suffers, and lately this is where it’s been. I’m trying to put more of a focus on my food intake this week and am proud to say my weight tracker is up to date. Hopefully I can keep it up the whole week!

Looking forward to… my blog redesign. This little space of mine is getting a serious, much-needed facelift soon, and I’m so excited about it!

Hoping… that traffic isn’t terrible on the way home tonight. They closed a major road near my route home a few weeks ago, and it’ll be closed until September. All the traffic that would normally be there is now on my route home, and it’s made our commutes a bit harder. I’m hoping it eases up a bit once the schools let out for the summer.

Eating… these for breakfast. We ran out for about a week and I hadn’t had a chance to make more… but now we’re stocked up again. These sandwiches save us ALL the time.

 Make-Ahead Breakfast Sandwiches

Drinking… water, water, and more water. I’m surprised I don’t float away with all of it! I’ve been putting a few drops of lemon oil in every time I fill my water bottle, and it really does help me drink more, plus is supporting my metabolism!

Going… to get a pedicure this weekend – FINALLY. It’ll be my first one of the year and my feet need it pretty desperately.

Spending… lots of time outside. It’s so nice to be able to let Abbie play after the long winter we had.

Wondering… which sunscreen to buy for Abbie. I struggle with this every year, and usually just end up buying the same one I always do. Do you have a favorite sunscreen for your little ones (or yourself)? I would LOVE suggestions.

Wanting… a new everyday bag. Mine is starting to crack and come apart. I struggle with bags EVERY time I need a new one. Any you’re loving?

Missing… the weekend. Whoever came up with the 5 day workweek and 2 day weekend should’ve seriously reconsidered.

Feeling… pretty good. I’ve been sleeping really well lately (thanks to diffusing Lavender and Cedarwood) and it’s really helped put some pep in my step in the mornings.

Loving… the new princess’s name! I think Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is the perfect combination and an amazing way for Will and Kate to honor so many important people in their lives. Also, how do I sign up to look that amazing just hours after giving birth? I mean, I know she’s got a team of hairdressers and assistants and such… but there was no way I was going near heels after giving birth. Plus, she was again had no worries about her little after-baby bump. Life goals – be more like Duchess Catherine.

  1. I always love these posts! I’m heading to the store to get Julia some sunscreen today and I have NO idea what I’m getting I need something, but who knows what it’ll end up being. Ugh. New blog design? EXCITING! Who’s doing it for you? And there was something else I wanted to comment on…oh, a new bag. Have you checked TJMaxx? That’s where I find my new purses when I need something new!

    1. Let me know what you end up getting her. Seriously. There are just WAY too many choices. Fran from Freeborboleta is doing my design and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with! Oh, and I need to go into TJ Maxx. Maybe I’ll skip my workout one day this week and go on my lunch….

  2. Finally spring is here! For an everyday bag we usually stick with Vera Bradley. Who isn’t having tacos on Tuesday lol. That’s something I learned in California that every Tuesday is taco Tuesday, not just on Cinco de Mayo. Weightloss is no joke and extremely hard. You’ve got to push yourself but once it happens and you get down to even half the weight you want to loose you will feel so much better. Trust me, I am in the same boat. I lost 40 lbs, I still have at least 20 more to loose but I feel amazing! Good luck girl, you can do it!

  3. I hear ya on the Duchess! Like HOW ON EARTH?!?! I feel for her though…cause as beautiful as she looks, I bet dressing up and being in heels is the LAST thing she really wants to do but has to do it. I bet she just wanted to be at home, snuggled with her babies, while he body recovers. But such is the life of a princess! Ha!

    1. I know, right? Seriously, life goal is to be more like her. I cannot even imagine!

  4. The weight loss journey can be so hard, can’t it? I have been eating mostly well, but still am stuck at my current weight. I know I just need to exercise more, but struggle in finding the time. I know I need to get up earlier, but I’m just too tired and then at night I’m too tired from the day. Need to make myself do it anyways! Drinking water is good though… that’s awesome that’s what you’re drinking a lot of! I need to up my water game – I try, but I always drink more coffee than anything!

    1. It’s SO hard. I will say that one thing that’s helped me a TON is my fitbit. That extra activity throughout the day helps so much!

  5. Kate is so flawless, seriously! I LOVE the name they picked! I hear you on the weight loss thing, it really is HARD! It seems like life is constantly getting in the way! Totally agree about the work week/weekend, 2 days is NEVER enough!

    1. 2 days is SO not enough and I feel constantly behind…hence me replying to you 2 weeks later… better late than never, right?

  6. Pedicures and tacos are like my current love language. Love it. And the breakfast sandwiches look amazing. I’ll need to check that out. If you do get suggestions for sunscreen, let us know!! We are always on the look, especially with our little redhead that has the fairest skin 🙁 These kids make me nervous in the sun!!
    Enjoy your week!!

    1. I ended up just buying Target brand sunscreen. Better to have something than nothing!

  7. I lose and gain weight in a cycle. Once I decide I will weigh __ lbs by whatever date, I start gaining. Just thinking about how well I’m doing will make me gain! I wish I had more control over my eating! I love healthy foods, so I have to steer myself that way and keep my mouth shut! I’m looking for a good book right now. It’s a big time investment, and I really have to love the book in order to commit.

    1. Yep, that’s where I’m at with books. Nothing has really grabbed me lately.

  8. You’re so right about the warm weather coming to VA. I’m so happy about it! Been waiting for way too long to get this warm out. Loved the post. And don’t be too hard on yourself with your weight loss journey. I’m on the mindset that we do the best we can, but don’t let it become a burden. Sometimes we just have to go for the ice cream with the family, because life has to be enjoyed as well. 🙂 Excited about the blog facelift!

  9. Love when the nice weather starts! We are outside as much as possible lately as well! I also was in awe of Kate, seriously on the same day as giving birth?? Seriously? I can’t even imagine having to have my hair done and makeup on and I still looked pregnant for weeks after having my kiddos. LOL! Good luck with the weight loss journey. It is never easy, it has been a struggle for me for 8 years. I am working at it though!

    1. I know! Can I look like that right after having my next kid? I seriously cringe when I look at the photos!
