As I am every week, I am so happy to see Friday… just like everyone else, right? This week was a bit of a rough one for me because the traffic this week was probably the worst since we moved. Yesterday it took me an hour and a half to get to work – and it’s only 25 miles. Yeah. Thank goodness today was so much better and the weekend is here! Here’s what’s up in our world.
ONE
Obviously, we need to talk about Mother’s Day. While I love this holiday, I really prefer to keep it simple. No big gifts or extravagant outings around here. I’ll be getting a pedicure at some point this weekend, we’ll probably go out for breakfast on Sunday, and I want a card. That’s it. Besides, if I really wanted something that badly… let’s be honest, I’d just buy it myself. (Although if someone gifted me a house cleaning… I wouldn’t say no.) Just spending time with my people.
TWO
The baby boom in blogland is so exciting! Courtney is due this month, and I was so excited to see Laura had her little boy this week. I’ll be over here living vicariously through you guys until we’re ready. 🙂
THREE
You know how earlier this week I talked about needing to buy sunscreen? Yep, still haven’t. I think a trip to Target will be happening this weekend (though, it does happen anyway almost every weekend).
FOUR
I was browsing around the bookstore the other day (don’t worry Chris, I didn’t buy anything), and stumbled upon this book in the children’s section. It’s about a little girl who has two dads and the Mother’s Day celebration at school. I actually stood there and read the whole thing, and it’s a super sweet story (she ends up bringing her entire extended family). No matter your views, I think it’s so important that kids feel accepted and loved, and I felt like this did that without offending anyone. Great read for any child, but especially those with different family situations than the typical. (Also, I totally just realized how blurry this photo is. Oops.)
FIVE
Don’t think I’ve mentioned it here yet, but my baby sister is officially going to be a HOKIE. I’m so stinking excited for her… and for attending a lot more football games in my future, including Abbie’s first game. There was the time she attended while I was pregnant though… and I almost got in a fight. Not kidding. (Story here)
Happy Friday and Mother’s Day to you all!
