I don’t know about you, but something about spring and summer just makes me want something bright and refreshing. Often, that comes down to something citrusy, and usually that leads me to lemon.
My love affair with all things lemon took a while to start. As a kid, I gravitated toward more traditional things like chocolate and peanut butter, but I definitely found a new appreciation for lemon as I got older. Nowadays, I pick lemon bars just as often as chocolate chip cookies.
So, when I got the chance to try out Giant Food’s new Limited Edition Limoncello products, I was really excited. The Limoncello flavor is not only that lemony flavor I love, but it’s Southern Italian, which is one of my favorite kinds of food. Sign me up!
I received three products to try out – the lemonade, risotto, and some yummy meringue cookies. Now, I’ll be honest – I don’t drink a lot of things with calories, so I had very little of the lemonade. It had a great balance of flavor – lemon flavor and not too sweet or tart. After my initial tasting of it, I actually chose to cut it with some diet lemon-lime soda, and it was great that way – it felt like a fun cocktail but was actually guilt free.
Risotto is one of my favorite things, so I wasn’t surprised that I loved that too! As for the cookies… well, Abbie stole them from me before I could finish them! I suppose I’ll let her since she’s cute.
The Limoncello line has many more products than this though – it includes Limoncello olive oil and pesto as well as Limoncello desserts like cookies, cakes and ice cream. There are also household products like Limoncello-scented candles, dish detergent, foaming hand soap and sanitizer products.
If you are in the DMV area, make sure you go check out the line! There are so many things to try and I have a feeling I’ll be restocking these cookies soon. You know, for Abbie…right?
I received free samples in exchange for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.
