I hope you all are having a great start to your 2016 – I definitely am enjoying the feeling of a clean slate. I’ve got a lot of ideas and plans for this little space of mine this year, and I’m starting one of those up today! So what is it? Talking about style.
For a long time, I struggled with my personal style. I’ve teetered on the edge of “typical” sizes and plus sizes for years now. It was always hard to find things I liked that fit me well, to find things that were trendy and still true to me. Being a size 14/16 was really hard in that way – you don’t fit into either category. I wasn’t really confident in what I wore for a long time.
Then, something happened – I worked really hard in college and lost all the weight. For the first time in my life, things fit the way I wanted, I could shop in the same stores as everyone else, and I could even borrow clothes from my friends. It was an amazing feeling.
While I’m no longer that size, I will never forget how that made me feel – to have clothes that I liked, and that fit me well. While my life has changed drastically over the past few years, I’ve had to re-learn what works for my lifestyle – and that’s where this series comes in.
For 2016, I’ll be sharing a bit of my personal style with you every week – Mom Style Sunday. I hope to share all kinds of style – things I wear to work, weekend outfits, style for family fun, special occasions, mom’s night out – any and all the situation where you’re wondering what on earth to wear. I find inspiration for what I like in so many different places, and I hope I can give that same inspiration to you.
