So, today you get to see a picture of me in high school. Ready?
Yep, me (in the middle) in a prom dress. Only, my dress wasn’t originally a prom dress – it was a maid of honor dress my mom wore that we had altered. As a plus size girl, I didn’t really have a lot of choices when picking my dress. Local stores didn’t carry a lot of plus size options. Plus, this was 2001, and online shopping was still relatively new.
My younger sisters, however, are much luckier than I am. They’ve had a lot more choices. It’s much easier to find stylish plus-size dresses now than it was 13 years ago. They have choices on the color, neckline, length…and dressfirst.com is a great place to look.
Seriously – where were these guys when I was picking a dress? Take a look at the great options they have!
All I did was click on “Prom Dresses,” and 750 options came up. 723 of them are available in plus size – a very different picture from my prom days! They also let you narrow down the options by countless things – neckline, length, fabric, color, price, silhouette – the options are really endless.
Right now, they’re running a sale, and many of their gowns are anywhere from 40-55% off, with free shipping. You can customize most of the dresses to a host of different colors, which really makes this company unique. You want an orange dress? Done. You want silver? You just found out your arch-nemesis is wearing blue? You can pick your dress color accordingly. It definitely ensures your dress will be one of a kind, and no one will have your dress! Dressfirst does recommend getting a color swatch before ordering the dress to make sure it’s what you want. You know how special occasion dresses are – made just for you! They also allow an extra inch in the seams just in case you need alterations!
It makes me want to go buy a prom dress. Anyone want me to chaperone a prom?
