Stitch Fix: October

Well, it’s that time again – sharing my latest Stitch Fix! In my note this month, I mentioned to Darla that this was my birthday fix. I asked for a new pair of skinny jeans since my beloved Kensie ones from last year are starting to show some wear, but told her other than that, to surprise me – and she definitely did! I love just saying surprise me – it often brings the best pieces!

Stitch Fix October 2015

Market & Spruce Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket – XL – $88.00

Market & Spruce Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket

I’d pinned this jacket twice, which is why Darla sent it my way. I like it just as much in person. I really liked the style of it and surprisingly, the color (olive green has never been my favorite). Unfortunately, I have big arms (trying to work on that) and it was just a little too tight there to justify keeping it for the price. Now that I know I love the style, I’m keeping an eye out for one that fits a little better from somewhere else. This will probably be the biggest regret of this fix. Verdict: Sadly Returned.

Pixley Comile Split Neck Blouse – XL – $68.00

The new Stitch Fix app now has an option where you actually get a photo of the items (not all of them though) and this was one of the ones with a photo when I peeked, and it looked promising. The print is super cute and the length is great, and it would be perfect… if it wasn’t so boxy in the fit. You guys, from the side, I looked enormous. Not a good look. It was also a bit tight in the arms, so this was a definite no-go for me. Verdict: Returned.

Octavia Chanelle Floral & Lace Infinity Scarf – $34.00

Now that it’s scarf season, I had finally unchecked the box in my profile to allow scarves again. This scarf is so unique, and I was really surprised by how much I like it! It’s lace on one side and a floral on the other, and it’s just really feminine and pretty. I think it really adds a little something extra to an outfit, and I can see myself wearing it a lot. Verdict: Kept!

Brixon Ivy Fierro Elbow Patch Crew Neck Sweater – XL – $58.00

I had pinned this sweater after seeing it in Courtney and Laura’s fixes… and well, if we ever get together in real life, we can now match. I love that it’s a simple sweater you can dress up or down… and those lace elbow patches – I can’t get enough of them. Obviously, this had to stay in my closet! Verdict: Kept!

Just Black Jimmy Skinny Jean – Size 31 – $88.00

The final item in my fix was these jeans, the ones to replace my beloved Kensies. They fit a little lower on the waist than those did, but they’re very similar in the fit, and the length is perfect – not something easy when you’re short! They were exactly what I was looking for, so of course I kept them! Verdict: Kept!

So October ends up a 3 out of 5, which always means it was a great fix. If I was a little more conscientous in my working out, the jacket may have fit a little better and I may have had the top altered, but I think I made good choices this month, and I’m pretty sure I have a great outfit planned now for family photos! Happy early birthday to me!

  1. All the cool kids have that sweater!!! And I am obsessed with that scarf! I really don’t NEED anther scarf, but I may pin it anyways!

  2. Looks like you got some great items, and just what you asked for, which is awesome. I love the sweater, and the jeans look awesome! The scarf is really cool too. Too bad about the jacket because that looked cute on you too.

  3. I love everything you kept! All three pieces look so good on you! The sweater is adorable with the little detail on the elbows. I’m going to have to look that one up. Great choices girl!

  4. What a great fix! I love the shirt paired with the scarf and jeans. It is a fabulous fall outfit. Happy October Birthday- from another October birthday. It is the best month for a birthday. 🙂

  5. Oh, I love everything you received in the box! I need to pin that sweater with the elbow patches – I’m such a sucker for elbow patches! And I also love the jeans on you! Great stuff!

  6. Adore the scarf and sweater!!! Great fall pieces and that touch of lace in both is gorgeous.

  7. The arms-too-big-problem is so so sooooo real. I decided I wanted to get into better shape, so I’ve been lifting under the guidance of a virtual trainer. And now I’m suuuuuper conscious about how big my arms are. I bought a top the other day and I was worried the sleeves were going to split!

  8. Great choices! I like the jacket on you. I also have big problems with my upper arms, as they are way out of proportion. I have to buy a larger size shirt just so the upper arm fits. I can tell if I’ve gained weight by how my shirts fit. I swear any extra weight goes there! I like your choices. That sweater is adorable on you!

  9. I got a similar Anorak jacket from Amazon for about $35. I never thought of looking for a coat on there but randomly came across it last fall – you should check on there if you liked the one from your fix! I love everything you kept. Especially the elbow patch sweater! I also saw that on Courtney’s and Laura’s blogs and requested it for my next fix. Fingers crossed I get one as well! 🙂
