Abbie, today is your third birthday. You are THREE. It’s amazing to me that you’ve been in our lives three years now. I could go on and on and say oh, it seems like yesterday… but to be honest with you, it doesn’t. I’ve enjoyed every moment I’ve had with you in these past three years.
Every year has been different, but this past year? this past year was the most fun. Your personality exploded this year, and you’ve let us know exactly who you are. Like I’ve always known, you’re fiercely independent – heaven forbid anyone try to do anything for you. You want to do it ALL yourself.
You love the color pink and specifically requested Pink cupcakes for your birthday. You love to pick out what shirt you’re wearing in the morning, but only ever want to wear leggings. You’ve recently become the big girl at daycare and help take care of the babies – you’ve come such a long way from being the baby there.
You know your numbers up to 20 (even if you do mix up the order in the teens sometimes), all your colors, all your shapes, and can recognize most letters. You recognize your name when you see it written down, as well as mommy and daddy. You love to pet the cats and tell us they’re “So cute!”
You make us laugh ALL the time. You’re sweet and sassy and moody, like I imagine most 3-year-olds are. You recently started wanting to cuddle with me before bedtime, and it’s absolutely the best. You were never a snuggler, so I’m embracing every moment of it now.
You love to dance and sing, and you surprise us every day with how much you know and pick up on. Your Aunt Mel is your favorite relative (sorry, everyone else). You love taking selfies on my phone – usually its the only way I can get you to smile since you can see yourself. You are the best little car rider – more patient than I could ask for on our long drives.
I got a little emotional cuddling you last night, thinking of how far we’ve come and all that we have coming in the future. I’m so excited to see your grow and develop, learn what you love and what you don’t, and keep going through life with you. My bond with you is one of the things I cherish most – I hope you know that you’ll always be my girl.
We love you so much Abbiebug – more than you’ll ever know. I’m so happy I get to spend this day with you all day, celebrating you, and the day we became parents. Here’s to three – and everything that is to come. Happy Birthday, my sweet girl.
