I’ve finally reached the third trimester of pregnancy and the end is in sight. It’s so hard to believe that we’re so close to meeting this little girl, and 30 weeks of pregnancy are already behind me. Truthfully, I don’t usually have too hard of a time with pregnancy. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to not get really sick, and my weight gain and blood pressure have been right on target. I have friends that are sick their entire pregnancies, and hearing that makes me so thankful for the relatively easy time I’ve had.
Even though it’s been fairly uneventful, this pregnancy has had it’s fair share of discomfort. Last time I just dealt with everything as best I could, but this time, I’ve been using essential oils to help keep me as healthy and comfortable as possible, and I’ve been so thankful to have them. So what oils am I using this pregnancy?
Peppermint
Peppermint is my most-used oil on a regular basis, even when I’m not pregnant. I love it for digestive support, I love the smell, and I love that it supports my nervous system too. It literally does not leave my purse and I would be incredibly lost without it. In fact, I think I have about 4 bottles on hand right now because I stockpile it in so many places!
My DIY Face Serum and Lavender-Oatmeal Bar Soap
You know how they say that girls steal your beauty? Well, for this little girl, that’s definitely been true – especially in the third trimester. I vary the combination of oils in my DIY Face Serum depending on what I need, but I’m convinced using this daily has kept my face as healthy as possible throughout this pregnancy.
The Bar soap isn’t technically an oil by itself, but it does contain Lavender Oil, so we’ll go with it. My nose gets fairly sensitive during pregnancy, and my skin gets dry – especially my feet, elbows, and knees. This bar soap is a new addition to Young Living’s products, but I grabbed it as soon as I saw it and I’ve been using it since. It’s incredibly moisturizing and lasts forever, and I know I’ll be using it long after this little one arrives.
Lemongrass and Cypress
I combined these two into a roll on with some fractionated coconut oil, and it’s been really helping the circulation in my feet and ankles. We all know the swelling that can accompany the end of pregnancy, and keeping the bloodflow going helps so much (along with putting my feel up every chance I get).
Tranquil Roll-On, Peace & Calming II, and Cedarwood
You know how sometimes you just can’t get comfortable to sleep during pregnancy? Well, these three are like magic for me. There have been nights that I can’t seem to turn my brain off, and these are my go-tos. I put two drops of Peace & Calming II (which I actually prefer to the original) and two drops of Cedarwood in my diffuser, roll-on the tranquil on my wrists – and sweet dreams. I seriously don’t want to think what I’d do without them because I sleep so well with them… despite the many bathroom breaks.
NingXia Red and Life 5 Probiotic
Two more non-oil products I couldn’t be without. I’m convinced that drinking two ounces of NingXia Red every day is the reason my blood pressure and blood sugar have remained steady and well within range. On the days I forget to take it, I definitely feel the difference. NingXia Red is full of antioxidants, oils, and wolfberry puree, and I know it’s the reason my energy levels have stayed high this pregnancy.
As for the Life 5 – well, let’s just say that my digestive system needs a little extra help when I’m pregnant. I don’t typically get nauseous, but I get other digestive issues. Without Life 5, I’d be way more uncomfortable than I have been – it’s really been a lifesaver for me during my pregnancy. It’s a staple in my daily routine and I typically take it daily when I’m not pregnant as well.
Lavender and Tea Tree
I couldn’t leave these two off the list. While I have tons of stretch marks already from my pregnancy with Abbie (I always knew I’d get them because my mom has them), these are my go-to for any sort of skin support I need. My stomach has itched much more this time than with Abbie, so a bit of lavender and some coconut oil calms that. I’ve used tea tree on everything from my face to my feet, and it’s one I always come back to.
There are a lot of other products I use on a regular basis, but those have been my favorites this pregnancy. Any you would add to my list?

I love lavendar and tea tree oils. I really want to try cedarwood. I’ve heard amazing things. I love how you use them. Oils are amazing.
Cedarwood was the FIRST oil I got after my starter kit, and I love it for so many things. The scent does take getting used to though – it’s very woodsy.
Lemongrass is my favorite! I use it sometimes just by itself in my diffuser simply because I love the smell.
It really does smell good – so fresh!
I am not sure with pregnancy; but Peppermint, Lavender, and Cedarwood are my most used Essential Oils! I love them for many reasons! I also use Lavender and Cedarwood mixed with Coconut Oil for a hair mask, and love the results! Thank you for sharing what has been working for you! I pinned earlier so other soon to be mommies could read! 🙂
Thanks for pinning! I may have to try those in a hair mask – coconut oil is too heavy for my hair, but I might try a lighter carrier oil – great idea!
I love essential oils. I’m so glad they’ve been helpful for you during pregnancy. I’m using Lavendar religiously at night, it’s the only way I get restful sleep.
Lavender is amazing, isn’t it? It’s in the Tranquil roll-on and I love it!
What exactly do you do with the peppermint oil? And why? I am just beginning to learn about essential oils.
It supports your nervous system and digestive system – you kind of have to read between the lines there since we have to be cognizant of FDA guidelines. It’s been a huge help to me and is probably my favorite oil!
I’ll have to keep these in mind the next time around!!
Love this! I really want to get into essential oils more, but it’s so overwhelming! I have lavender, lemon, and peppermint that I mix and use every night before bed. I swear it helps me sleep and I just love how it makes me feel!
It is overwhelming at first for sure. I have a few reference books that I can recommend if you like!
I just got my starter kit and it came with cedar wood! I’ve been diffusing it with lavender for Mason for the past two nights… hopefully it helps! He’s been not wanting to go to sleep though when we put him down and he cries and cries so I’m thinking I need to get some peace and calming or tranquil or something to help him calm down and relax and sleep.
Thank you for sharing this information. I was really curious about EO’s during my last pregnancy, and this is so helpful!
