Fresh Start for Spring

Now that spring is FINALLY here (after that crazy long winter), I’ve been thinking more and more about doing things that are better for me. Spring just screams renewal and a fresh start – sometimes I think New Year’s should be in spring instead of winter. With that in mind, there are a few ways I take advantage of the gorgeous spring weather to help me with that fresh start I’m craving.

Spring (1)

Getting outside whenever possible. This sounds like a no-brainer. Getting outside in this gorgeous weather just makes you feel better. We also make sure to let the fresh air into the house as much as possible. Let’s get the stale air out of the house!

Getting enough sleep. This should really be year-round, but it’s so important in spring. As we get more active, we need the rest, and it helps your body build up defenses to all the seasonal stuff we know is coming.

Lighter meals. This is one of my favorite things about spring – all the fresh produce. I love that all my favorite fruits and vegetables are coming into season – it’s much easier to eat a little lighter when the fresh produce is so delicious!

Having guilt-free treats. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth. It’s always been my weakness. I am definitely a person who looks for a sweet treat after dinner. My newest obsession are these Kozy Shack Simply Well pudding cups. Now, I’ve had Kozy Shack before, and always been a big fan of their tapioca pudding, but these? These are genius. They come prepackaged and ready to go, so it’s easy for me to grab one serving. They also have only 90 calories, so they’re an easy after dinner treat for me.  I love them plain, but sometimes I add a few mini chocolate chips on top. It adds just a little bit of chocolate flavor to accompany the tapioca.

Family walks. Abbie LOVES to be outside and would stay out all day if we let her. We want to make sure activity is an integral part of our lives, so we try to take walks as a family whenever we can. We’re having fun exploring our new neighborhood, and Abbie likes to point out all the sights (cars, trees, and clouds are her current favorites). We always have a great time on our walks.

What kind of habits do you try to pick up in spring? Have you tried Kozy Shack Simply Well puddings before?

  1. I’m also loving the warmer weather and the chance to head out for evening walks again! I’ve had those pudding cups before. They’re tasty!

  2. All such great tips! Healthy snacks are always so hard to find when you’ve got a sweet tooth – I totally understand! I too am looking forward to getting outside more with spring here! it does so much for my energy level, mood and usually curbs my sweet tooth too!

  3. What a great idea to add some mini chocolate chips to a pudding cup! I am doing Weight Watchers and this would be a great little treat for me! I love all your spring goals! Very similar to mine 🙂
