Excuse my total radio silence today…it’s been one of those days. We had a very busy Sunday, so today I haven’t quite been firing on all cylinders. An early bedtime is definitely in the cards for me tonight! (P.S. I totally just re-read that and there’s so many clichés, but I’m leaving it…) So what did we do yesterday? Well, I became a godmother!
We left Sunday morning and arrived in at the church outside Richmond pretty early after a surprisingly easy drive – Abbie was good for most of the two hour trip. She was, of course, happy to get out of the car and run around once we got there.
Of course, once Nichole, Paul, and Sophia arrived…I grabbed her right away. I attempted to introduce Abbie to her new best friend…and of course Abbie had zero interest. Silly girl.
We weren’t allowed to take pictures during the service, but we grabbed a bunch afterward. I’m so honored and proud to be Sophia’s godmother – and it’s extra special since Nichole is Abbie’s. Hence why they’re required to be best friends.
We went to Nichole’s parents’ house afterward for lunch. I got lots of time with Sophia – she’s the sweetest baby – so calm and way different from Abbie as a baby. At one point she fell asleep in my arms while I was just holding her – Abbie almost never did that! It’s amazing to see how different kids are even at the very beginning.
We left about 2:45, and Abbie fell asleep in the car almost immediately, which was a definite blessing – traffic was horrendous. Silly me, forgetting about summer traffic. We had intended to go straight home, but instead stopped at my parents for a while to wait out the traffic. Since I didn’t pack jammies for Abbie, I ran out to grab her some, and scored two pairs of Sofia the First jammies on clearance. We didn’t head home until close to 9 so my family could get lots of Abbie time… which she of course soaked up. I figure if traffic had to be that horrible, at least we got some family time in.
How was your weekend?
