Figuring out what the heck to wear on weekends is hard for me sometimes. Like, really hard. Since I spend Monday through Friday in work clothes, they’re always the first thing I stock up on. One of the first questions I ask myself when deciding if I’m going to purchase something is “Can I wear this to work?” If the answer is no, I really think hard before I buy it.
The thing is, since my work clothes typically follow a formula, it’s hard to know what to do on the weekends. I used to default to just wearing yoga pants all weekend, but honestly? That doesn’t really make me feel good about myself. I feel better and more confident when I get dressed and put effort into what I’m wearing. I’m a better mom and wife when I’m confident and love what I’m wearing.
Because why shouldn’t we love what we wear all the time? Shouldn’t we be our best selves every moment we can, not just when we’re around the people we work with? Whatever I’m doing when I’m not at work – grocery shopping, playing with Abbie, going to breakfast, seeing friends – it’s all part of my life, and all deserves the same effort as going to work, possibly more. This is what I’m choosing to do with my spare time, and I need to reflect that value in my effort. Abbie needs to see me value myself in that way – that I take care of myself and she should too.
Obviously, I’m not perfect. There are weekends I don’t really get out of pajamas – and that’s okay too. It’s all about balance. This is an outfit I wear quite often in different variations – my favorite Liverpool bootcut jeans from Stitch Fix (also the softest jeans I’ve ever owned – these are similar), a simple striped tee from Target (and they put them on sale all the time), one of my Old Navy vests (similar), and a statement necklace for some color. I got this one in one of my recent Rocksbox (use cod beingmrsbeerxoxo for a free month!) … and it had to stay with me forever because I just love it so much. An easy, casual weekend look that I feel confident in, and that’s so worth the effort I put in.
Now for a favor from you all – are you in enjoying these posts? Is there any topic you’d like me to touch on? Leave it in the comments for me and have a happy Sunday!

I’m loving these posts and personally love this outfit! You are making me think I should wear my vests more. Right now I don’t though because I feel weird wearing a vest and a coat ;).
Thanks so much! Too bad I fell off the wagon with them for a while… hopefully now that it’s warm I’ll actually get ahead with them!
I do see what you’re saying, but I am a yoga pants all weekend kind of girl! Unless something special is going on. To me, I feel best when I’m comfortable and if I’m just hanging out with my family or running errands, I don’t need to be too fancy haha. Cute outfit, I have that exact shirt and never would’ve thought to put a vest on over it.
Hey, whatever works for you and you feel comfortable in! You could totally do this exact outfit with yoga pants!
Love that outfit!! It looks so great on you! I agree with struggling to dress sometimes. When I was teaching I was just like you, if I couldn’t wear it to work I didn’t buy it. Now I feel like I’m in jeans and a t-shirt or v-neck all the time. I need to get out of that slump. 🙂
Thank you! And there’s nothing wrong with jeans and a t-shirt all the time if you can do it! Maybe find some fun accessories to dress them up? Scarves and things?
I’m with ya. I’m dressing to be my best self, even when it’s not work. We had a teacher work day the other day, and a couple people were like, “You look cute even on the work days?!” I’m like, dude, yes! Getting dressed makes me feel good! Glad it does for you, too!
It so makes you feel better about yourself! I have some mom friends that just put in no effort and I know they could feel so much better about themselves if they did!
Totally loving this series! You are so relatable!
Thank you so much!
I love this entire outfit! Comfy but put together. My weekend style usually consists of workout pants and a sweater in the cold. I hate being really dressed up for anything.

Thanks, and don’t worry – I have a large collection of hoodies too…..
I like this series! I was thinking yesterday that I really have no weekend clothes. They are worn out, stained, stretched out, etc. I also put too much effort into my work clothes, though they are getting pretty worn, too. I need to go shopping!

You do, and there’s so many cute spring things out now!
