For as long as I can remember, October has been my absolute favorite month. It’s the start of the holiday season, the most perfect month of fall, football season is in full swing… and of course, I get my birthday on the 22nd.
While I LOVE my birthday, I like to keep it simple. I don’t want something crazy big and flashy – just a little recognition of my day and maybe something small to recognize it. Of course, that drives everyone in my life crazy because they don’t know what to buy! With that, I thought I’d share a few things I have my eye on… and they’re all under $50, with most under $25!
A card. Yep, totally simple. In fact, this is really my only must-have so Abbie can scribble on it and I can keep it forever.
Nickel & Suede Earrings. These are my absolute FAVORITE earrings right now and I wear them ALL THE TIME. They’re cute, super lightweight, and come in a myriad of colors… of which I have three. I’d love a few more pairs and especially love the signature gold, earl grey, and orange and maroon ones (gotta have Hokie colors!). Best of all, they’re made in the US by Kilee Nickels over at One Little Momma, and I love supporting small business and other moms. PLUS since they’re made of leather I can use them to diffuse my essential oils. Have I said I love these earrings?

Ree Drummond’s newest cookbook. I have all three of Ree’s previous cookbooks (two of them signed!) and adore them. Her recipes are delicious, beautifully photographed, and always turn out great. They are not always the healthiest, but I’m always learning new flavors and techniques from her books and her show, and I know this will be no exception. Besides, if I don’t get this, I’ll be buying it anyway (I kind of have a cookbook addiction).
Hokie things. Let’s be real, if you buy me anything at all Virginia Tech related, you probably know me really well and know I’ll be happy.
Fun Mugs. Chris will probably HATE this suggestion as he thinks I have too many…. but I LOVE fun mugs. Coffee is just better if it’s from a mug that makes you smile.
Digital Picture Frame. I have a few photos on my desk at work, but I’d love to have a small digital frame that cycles through photos. Plus it’ll be super easy to add new ones and take away the old ones!
Stitch Fix Gift Cards. Let’s be serious, Stitch Fix is my addiction, and gift cards would let me get even more fun things.
Anything you’d add to my list? Do you keep your birthdays simple or go all out?

LOVE Ree and her show! Gosh she has the best looking recipes! I hope you get her cookbook AND Stitch Fix gift cards!
Great ideas! I always ask for a card too. That’s my one must have. And I tell my hubby he has to write his words in it. Ha ha. So demanding. I love gift cards. They make me happy. 🙂
Ooh, I hope you get that cook book! The Pioneer Woman can seriously do no wrong in the kitchen!
Haha, except having thousands of calories…. 😉
Oooh, happy early, early birthday! I hope you get all the items off of this list 🙂 I want to snap up Ree’s new cookbook as well… I have read her blog for years and think she’s awesome!
