If your house looks anything like mine right now…there’s remnants of Christmas lying around. Boxes, bottles, ribbon, paper…it’s all just sitting there…waiting for recycling day.
I have to be honest – we used to be really bad about recycling…as in, we rarely did it. Since we moved back in March, that’s changed. We now recycle so much that sometimes that pile dwarfs the trash pile. I’m pretty proud of how far we’ve come with our recycling habits. I hope Abbie knows just how important it is to recycle as she grows up.
I know, I know. Where the heck am I going with this? You know how to recycle. You know it’s important…but that trash can is so much closer than the recycle bin. It won’t matter.
It does. One of the reasons? The two green beanies that showed up in my mailbox a few days ago.
What do these beanies have to do with recycling? Get this – each one exists because of it. That’s right – each of these beanies is made from 6 recycled bottles, made possible by a pretty cool product called Repreve.
So what is Repreve? It’s a recycled fiber made from the plastic bottles you’d otherwise throw away – and it’s used in lots of different products, including Volcom tees, the seats in Ford vehicles, polartec, and the North Face. Those Herff Jones graduation caps and gowns we all wore? They’re in there too. So how does it happen? Take a look at the video below!
I really love how something as small as tossing a plastic bottle into a recycling bin can turn into the products we love to use – such a simple change with a big impact!
What are your thoughts on recycling? Have you ever heard of Repreve?
Big thanks to REPREVE for sponsoring today’s post and encouraging us to #TurnItGreen
