Stitch Fix: July

Well, it’s one of my favorite days of the month – time to share my latest Stitch Fix with you!

Stitch Fix July 2015

For this month’s fix, I asked Darla to surprise me, but did mention my husband’s family reunion at the end of the month. It’s in my profile that I prefer versatile pieces, and I really feel like Darla pays attention and really looks for that for me, and she pays attention to my Pinterest board. I love her and hope she never leaves me. Also, I want to apologize for the photos inside… every time we tried to take pictures it was either too dark or raining… and of course there’s that lovely bandage on my knee. So what did I get?

Island Designs Mendall Oval Filigree Earrings – $28.00

Island Designs Mendall Oval Filigree Earrings

I have a habit of logging into my Stitch Fix account the moment my fix ships to see what’s headed my way, and I was happy to see these earrings – jewelry is always a possible “keep” item for me. I really do like these a lot. they’re lightweight and delicate but still interesting. They’re definitely very me. That said… I have some very similar pieces of jewelry. These are different enough that if I didn’t, I would have kept them… but since I have similar pieces, they went back. I may regret this later. Verdict: Return.

Pixley Corson Mesh Neckline Top – XL – $58.00

Pixley Corson Mesh Neckline Top

The second I pulled this out, I knew it was going to be a no. As a well-endowed girl, I need to be able to wear a bra with everything I wear… and this just wasn’t going to work. If the mesh was finer, or maybe somehow hid my bra straps, this would totally be a keeper… but I’m not busting out an uncomfortable strapless bra for everyday wear. Just not happening. I did really LOVE the material and pattern, and was so sad it really wasn’t a possibility for me. Verdict: Return.

Just Black Dean Skinny Jean – Size 12P – $78.00

Just Black Dean Skinny Jean

I actually do need a new pair of skinny jeans, so this as a welcome addition to my box. I’ve never tried this brand before, and let me tell you – they are SOFT. I’ve never had a pair of jeans that feel like this. That said, I think I definitely need to take the petites off my profile – these are just too short for me. Seems I’m just tall enough for regular inseams. I did really like the color and might request these again or look for something similar on my own, but I just didn’t love them enough to keep. Verdict: Return.

Papermoon Brandon Dress – XL – $68.00

Papermoon Brandon Dress

So, to be honest, I wasn’t overly excited about this dress coming. See, I’ve gotten Papermoon items before (here) and they’ve always run about a full size small. I wasn’t expecting this dress to fit – AT ALL. Thank goodness I was surprised because I ADORE this dress. The pattern is so me, I love the lace detail at the top, and it fits well! The fabric flows and feels amazing, and I don’t have anything like this in my closet yet! It’s so versatile too – I can wear it on the weekends, to work, to a wedding… it’s just a great all-around dress. Verdict: Kept!

Brixon Ivy Lex Textured Floral Knit Fit & Flare Dress – XL – $74.00

Brixon Ivy Lex Textured Floral Knit Fit & Flare Dress

This dress – I was so torn on it. The cut and material on this one are amazing – it’s a good quality material that’s stretchy and forgiving, it’s bra friendly, and it’s comfortable. It’s also really a bright and different pattern, in that I don’t really know what color to call it – it says yellow, but it’s definitely got some green to it. Honestly, this dress fits great. It’s really comfortable and I would totally wear it – but I just didn’t know how much, purely because the color is pretty loud. Since I’m trying to watch what I’m spending and limit what I keep to pieces I really love, I ultimately decided to send this back. I’ll probably hate myself for it later, but I just couldn’t justify it. Verdict: Return.

So that’s Stitch Fix #15 for me!

  1. I always check out what is coming in my box too as soon as it ships! I used to like the surprise now I am just so anxious to see what I got! I love the pants, but I agree they are a little short!

    1. I agree! Just because you can google the descriptions doesn’t mean you’ll find them – most times I can only find 1 or 2 of the things in my box anyway!

  2. I love the dress you kept! It’s so cute, and looks great on you. Very good choice. Too bad the other items didn’t work out!

  3. The pixley to was by far the cutest! With the jeans! You can ask for a size change… I would have exchanged pants for 12R. The top looks fabulous on you… So cats about bra straps! Wear black!

    1. I thought about asking for a different size, but ultimately decided against it… and I have a thing with bras showing – just not something I can get over 🙂

    1. Really? I seriously just felt they were too short. They were also just a tad tight…. need to get going on the weight loss! 🙂

  4. Love the dress you kept, too cute! Ugh I hate shirts that require a strapless bra, no way am I wearing strapless unless it’s a dress-up special occasion and even then it’s questionable, lol! They are SO uncomfortable!

    1. They really are. I’m also entirely too well-endowed for them to work on anything but a special occasion!

  5. So funny that we both posted our boxes today. I love that last dress on you, and you’re rocking those jeans—maybe they could get them for you in a longer size?

    1. We must think alike! And I may ask for those jeans again later – they were actually also a little snug on me so I want to lose a few more pounds first 🙂

  6. I think you made all the best decisions. 🙂 I LOVE the dress you decided to keep! Isn’t it kind of nice that not everything is a winner? I feel like I’d be tempted to keep too many things if it was all just right!

  7. Maybe it’s revealing my complete lack of fashion sense, but I would totally wear that mesh top with a bra. :-/. It looks great on you, but I understand wanting to keep only the most versatile pieces. The dress you kept is darling!

  8. This box was pretty great really even if all the pieces didn’t work out perfectly. I LOVE the dress you kept though. Super cute and you will get a lot of wear out of it I bet.

  9. I love both dresses on you! I understand why you didn’t keep the yellow though – that’s one that stands out enough that you couldn’t wear it all the time. Although it really does look great on you.

  10. LOVE those earrings!! Such a bummer about the top because that looked so great! I love it, but I feel you on not wearing a strapless bra. I wonder if you could get a clear strapped bra?? Just a thought, because it was awesome!

    1. I didn’t even think of that… but bras are hard for me in general, so I can’t imagine looking for clear straps!
