Happy Thursday! We’re almost to the weekend, and I know we’re always looking for fun activities to entertain our kids every weekend. Today I’ve got a cool project from Macy of To Travel and Beyond, and I’m definitely planning on doing this one in the future! Afterward, make sure you check Macy out – she recently got engaged and I’m looking forward to living vicariously through her wedding planning!
Hi Ya’ll! I am Macy from To Travel and Beyond and I am so excited to be on Jess’s blog today sharing some tips for fun activities during the summer! Can you believe it is already halfway through July already?! This means your kids (if you have them) have already done anything and everything they can think of to keep themselves busy since leaving school on their last day. But as their Super-Mom (or Super-Dad) you are here to save the day!
I am the oldest of 5 children, the youngest of us is only 5 which means I have had my experience trying to keep my siblings busy. I practically grew up babysitting, and realized that something had to keep my three younger brothers busy during the two months of summer vacation. That is when my mom thought of something called a “Summer Fun Board”, sounds fun, right?? It is! For any age actually. Think of it as a Summer Bucket list of sorts, but it’s something that is in your face everyday so you can’t ever forget about it. It’s not only fun to do the activities but it’s also fun to create!
It’s pretty simple to make, too! All you need are letters the size of flashcards, stickers, markers and poster board. You can use any kind you would like, or leave it up to your kids to pick a theme! The final product should look something like this (sorry for the flash!)-
Now it’s time to pick an activity for each letter! Every year we get stuck on a few, but that makes my brothers even more excited when they think of something that can be used for one of those letters. Below are a few from summers past that we have done, I can’t wait to cross some more off for this years!
Are you going to make a summer fun board? I would love to see it!
