Can I start with saying how incredibly hard it is to be back at work today? I had an amazing five days off – my daycare provider asked for a day off yesterday since she was moving (just down the street), so I got an extra day to hang out with my girl. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all, and I loved having so long to celebrate it – this extra day off may just become a regular thing.
I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving, because we definitely did. Have I mentioned it’s my favorite? Maybe just a few times. As usual, we headed down to my parents’ house in the morning to make sure we got there in time for the Macy’s parade. I’ve been watching the parade for as long as I can remember, and it’s my favorite part of the day – just hanging out with my family while we watch. Last year, Abbie didn’t really notice it, but this year the floats and balloons started to catch her attention. I hope she grows to love the parade just as much as I do.
Of course, there were way too many snacks, lots of Abbie playing with her aunts, Grandma, and Pop, and all my favorite things for dinner. The best. The only thing that would’ve made it better is if my sister didn’t have to go into work. I am not a fan of this Thanksgiving shopping business, even if I can’t stop it.
We skipped the craziness of Black Friday for the most part, although I did snag a few things online. We went out later in the morning to see what was left. Of course, going into Toys R Us with Abbie was not the best idea.

Saturday we had breakfast with my sorority twin, Bekka, and it just reminded me just how much I miss her…. and of course I forgot to take a picture. Of course. Hopefully the next time she’s home (she lives in Texas now), we can get together again. We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out, putting up the Christmas tree, and just having lots of family time. I love that I had yesterday too – just a day with me and my girl.

The whole weekend was exactly what I needed. I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed and run down lately, and it was nice to take the time to just be together.
How was your Thanksgiving?
