Growing up, Valentine’s Day was not a huge deal in my house. Typically, we got a package of store-bought valentine’s for school to fill out and called it a day. My parents never made a big deal of it, but as a parent now, I love making Valentine’s Day fun for my girls.
Valentine’s Day sometimes has a lot of pressure around it, but it doesn’t have to be. Simple and thoughtful is one of the best ways to show you care. While we often think of our significant others and our kids on Valentine’s Day, we sometimes forget the first people who loved us – our parents.
I have to be honest, I don’t remember ever getting my parents a Valentine’s Day gift, but I have no idea why not. I have been known to do things like buy my mom flowers on my birthday, but this year? I spoiled my dad just a little for Valentine’s Day.
One of the things my dad has always worn is a watch. In fact, I’ve only seen him without one a handful of times. So when JORD reached out to me their men’s watches, I knew it would be perfect for my dad. What better way to show my dad a little love on Valentine’s Day than with a watch?
My dad has always worked incredibly hard for my family. When I was a kid, he worked more than one job when my sisters were young so my mom could stay home. He refinished the entire basement of my parents’ house – permits and everything. Whenever I have a crazy house or car question, he’s always there for me. I used to think I was the most like my mom, but as I get older I see more and more that I’m a lot like my dad too.
I chose the Conway series Dark Sandalwood and Burgandy watch for my dad. He’s pretty traditional in what he likes to wear, and I knew that the large round face and classic styling would be perfect for him. I love that it’ll go with everything from his work suits to casual wear on the weekend, and he can even wear it when he’s helping me out with house projects (thanks for always helping, dad!).
I loved gifting this to my dad because the watch is so well made, and so different from every other watch he has. They also are easy to customize – you can have them sized before ordering and can also add engraving to the watch or the gorgeous cedar box it arrives in. Now the question is, which one of the women’s watches do I choose for myself?
To help out with your Valentine gift giving (or maybe a gift to yourself!), JORD is giving away $100 to one lucky reader, but you’ll still get a $25 off code even if you don’t win! Head here to enter! (The contest will close on February 12 at 11:59pm, and both the $100 and the $25 codes will expire on 4/30/2017.)
