Abbie: 17 Months

Weight:  The last time she stepped on the scale at our Weight Watchers meeting (she thinks it’s fun), 26 pounds with clothes and shoes on.

Health:  Good.  I think she may have some seasonal allergies since her eye discharge was really bad for about two weeks. Looks much better lately.

Sleep:  Sleeping through the night, with occasional wakeups for her pacifier. She also tries to get up at 5am sometimes…not ok, little one! Thankfully she gets the point when I go in, giver her a pacifier, and leave. If the clock says 6 or later, I’ll just get her up, but 5? No way.

Social:  Still lots of noises, but not a lot of words.  She understands way more than she says. Today I thought I heard her say “ball,” so that’s one to add. We’re working on it.

Diet:  Officially down to 2 bottles, both during the day.  She also has 3 meals plus snacks.

Clothes:  All in 24 month and 2T.

Baby Gear/Toys:  LOVES books and her chalkboard table. She’s also been starting to play more with her puzzles and blocks lately.

Crying:  Just when she’s mad. Chris pointed out the other day that I say no to her a lot, so I’m working on redirecting her rather than saying no. It does have the plus of less crying.

Likes:  Same as last month – books, her ball, being outside, the swings, the slide, playing “where’s Abbie,” the cats, dancing, jumping, being chased by mommy and daddy, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Lady Antebellum’s Compass. Looks like I’m raising her right!

Dislikes:  Diaper changes, the word no, getting her hair washed.

Milestones:  Just more teeth – haven’t counted lately. She can also go up and down the stairs standing with only one hand from us for help!

Abbie –

This month was a little tough for us with some of the tragic things I saw happening with other families, and it’s made me so grateful that we have you. You continue to show us just how independent you are – this month you gave up your nighttime bottle all on your own. You continue to impress me with how much a big girl you are, and I know you’ll always go after what you want. Just keep snuggling with me before bed, ok? It’s my favorite part of the day.

Love,

Momma

  1. She’s so cute in those PJs!! Yay for 17mo and only two bottles! I too need to work on saying no less but man it’s hard when redirect is so hard these days!

    1. I so struggle with redirect, but the payoff is so much better! I love those PJs too!

  2. LOL- love that she gets on the scale at weight watchers 😉 She is such a doll, and I LOVE her polka dotted chair!!
