First, let me say I can’t stand April Fools’ pranks. I was always the recipient of them and hated it. Anyone who plays a prank on me today will probably get smacked. Ok, rant over.
Now, can I be a crazy cat lady for a minute? Okay, good.
I don’t talk about them nearly enough, but long before Abbie, and even before Chris, I had two furry loves in my life – our cats, Mischief and Cuerva. My roommate and friend Nina and I got them in June 2008 when they were 8 weeks old, so we’ve always thought of April 1st as their birthday.
These sweet girls have changed my life. I didn’t grow up with pets and always wanted them, so when we got these girls I was ecstatic. Nina picked them up one afternoon, and they stole our hearts. Nina named our tortie, Mischief, and she is true to her name, always looking for things to get into. I named our calico, Cuerva, and she’s just the sweetest thing – shy, but very loving once she knows you.
Long before our human family began, these little girls gave me so much love and entertainment. They’re sweet and funny and love to cuddle. Abbie will grow up loving them and knowing what it’s like to have pets, and I’m so thankful she already loves them (even if she does hit them because she’s so excited).
So Happy Birthday, Mischief and Cuerva! We love you and you’ll get some extra treats and snuggles tonight!
Ok, crazy cat lady out.

Then you and Nina both got married and moved out. It’s like the end of FRIENDS. Sob.
Hahaha, you’re too funny.
You can be a crazy cat lady whenever you want! These kitties are adorable- love the calico- looks like one I had when I was younger (her name was Kermie)… and I totally brag about my babies on the blog all the time, haha!

Haha, thanks…they’re definitely my “other” babies!
Oh, happy birthday kittehs! They are so cute! We have a calico and they are the best cats. I love the name “Mischief” for a cat – so fitting!
I know, I was obsessed with calicos before I even got her. They’re so sweet! And yes…Mischief definitely lives up to her name on a daily basis. Silly cat.
