As in, with our food. For as long as I can remember, my family has dunked our food in other things. Well, to be specific, my dad’s side of the family. My dad tells stories of his dad, my Pop, dunking donuts in his coffee. We’ve been known to dunk biscuits in gravy, bread in pasta sauce… you name it, we dunk it. So with chili? Well, of course we dunk cornbread in it. It’s not really complete without it.
It just so happens that cornbread is pretty big here in Virginia. To be honest, I’m not sure if my parents or I had even had cornbread when we moved here in 1987 (wow, so long ago!), but it’s been a pantry staple for us ever since.
We often make our own chili, but there are times when the craving for chili hits and you need it now, and for that, we always reach for HORMEL® Chili With Beans. Why HORMEL®? Well, for one, it’s America’s #1 chili, and they have so many varieties. I often reach for vegetarian to be a little bit healthier, and Chris usually prefers without beans (don’t ask me why, crazy!). It’s super easy and convenient to enjoy at year-round.
One thing that’s interesting is how every state seems to have a favorite way to enjoy HORMEL® Chili. In Ohio, they put it on spaghetti (I don’t know if I could do that one). In Washington state, they pair them with apples. In Pennsylvania, with pretzels. There are so many different ways, but honestly? I think I’ll stick with my cornbread.
So what’s your favorite way to enjoy HORMEL® Chili? Check out what’s paired with it in your state here! Do you do something totally different with your chili? I’d love to know – grab this coupon to pick up some HORMEL® Chili of your own and share it on HORMEL’s® facebook page!
