Oh Hey Friday {3.20.15}

Today’s the first day of spring, but northern Virginia didn’t get the memo. It’s snowing outside right now, but tomorrow is going to be 64 degrees. I swear, sometimes I think we get all four seasons in a day. Anyway, let’s just jump into my five, shall we?

Abbie Outside
Abbie likes to run around her car outside. Oh, and carry around Play-Dough but not actually play with it. Silly girl.

ONE

Apparently Eva Mendes says sweatpants are the cause of divorce. Um, pretty sure she’s not married (although she did snag Ryan Gosling, so there’s that), so I don’t really find her a credible source. Also, get with the times, Eva – most women prefer yoga pants and write crazy articles about how men lust after them when they wear them. Get the facts straight.

TWO

My MIL was able to replace the leg elastics in the first set of Abbie’s diapers I brought over, and I’m so thankful. If you’re a cloth diaper mom, you know how valuable that is – I didn’t have to send them off anywhere to be fixed! She’s already fixed six of them and is working on the next five. I’m weirdly excited to start using the refreshed ones – I think that’s why we’ve been going through so many pairs of pants.

THREE

Chris and I have both been congested AGAIN this week. While I’m starting to try more natural remedies, sometimes you just need the Sudafed. It’s been saving us this week and if I need it, I take it. I’m thankful we live in a time that we have both modern medicine and natural remedies available.

FOUR

I’ve made this skillet cookie two more times since I posted the recipe. That may be what’s making this a challenging weight loss week, but so worth it. The mint TollHouse chips were PERFECT for St. Patrick’s Day.

FIVE

I’m slowly getting more and more into essential oils, to the point I almost ran out of lemon before my new bottle arrived and I was so sad about it! Would you guys be interested in hearing more about what I’m using them for and their uses?

Young Living Lemon Essential Oil

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Carrying around playdoh but not actually playing with it? Cute! Maybe she likes the squishy feel in her hands? I’m glad the weather is a little better, headed in the right direction. We’re headed into our super hot and humid months now. Rainy season is coming soon, too, and I love it! We get a super heavy rainstorm almost every afternoon. How do you disperse the essential oils? Does the scent go throughout your whole house? We used to burn candles for the scent but don’t anymore because our current house has natural gas and DH is afraid of an open flame.

    1. I guess so? She’s kind of ridiculous. I recently got her one of those things you squeeze the playdough through, and she looked at me like I was crazy.

I use a home diffuser for my oils, and it fills a pretty large room. I’m going to share more about them this month, so stay tuned for that! 🙂

  2. I’ve been replacing the elastic on our diapers before baby arrives and I’m shocked at the difference! Also, I’m just getting into EOs too, so I would love to hear more!!!

    1. I know! The difference is crazy right?

And I’m planning a series on my oils – glad to hear you want to know more too. I didn’t want to overwhelm anyone!
