My Kitchen: Homemade Mexican Seasoning

One of my absolute favorite things to eat is Mexican food. Tacos are by far my favorite, so when I found a taco recipe with the perfect blend of seasonings, I started using that blend on everything. I use it as a dry rub on chicken for fajitas. I add it to scrambled eggs and omelettes. I’ve put it on fish and in salads. I love the flavors, and I love that I don’t have to have tacos to get them. Since it’s one of my favorite blends, I thought I’d share it with you!

Now, this recipe is sized to fit my jar and my taste (I don’t like a ton of spiciness), but it’s very adaptable – you can half it, double it, etc. Just remember that 1 teaspoon equals 3 tablespoons and do the math from there.

Ingredients
  1. 6 Tbsp Ground Cumin
  2. 1 1/2 Tbsp Ground Coriander
  3. 9 Envelopes Sazon Seasoning (this is in the global section, not the spice aisle of the store)
  4. 1/8 to 1/4 tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper, to taste
Instructions
  1. Measure everything into the jar of your choice. Mix well and use on anything you want! Obviously, you can add more spice to this, or additional ones - garlic or onion powder, for example. I prefer to use fresh onions and garlic generally, so I didn't add them here.
