New Beginnings

You know that saying about how one door closes, and another one opens? I can never remember the exact wording of it, but it’s exactly my life right now. Big changes are happening in our neck of the woods. What are they, you ask?

Well, if you follow me on Instagram, you know that on Friday, I put in my resignation at my current job.

Don’t worry, this isn’t some sweeping announcement about quitting my job to blog or anything like that – something like that is just not in the cards for us. Instead, I’m finally moving on to another company after being in my current position for 7.5 years.

7.5 years is a long, long time guys. I have worked in the same place since shortly after Chris and I got engaged. In that time, so much happened. Chris changed jobs about 5 or 6 times (not kidding). We got married. I got pregnant with Abbie, then became a mom. My sisters graduated from high school. I got pregnant with Ella and became a mom of two. So much has changed in the past 7.5 years.

There are many reasons why I’ve chosen to leave my current job (that I may or may not share), but I can’t help but be thankful for the stability I’ve had there for so long. I knew that as long as I came to work and did my job to the best of my ability, I would be able to provide for my family. I knew that I would be able to bring home a steady paycheck, provide health insurance, grow a 401K, and more. For the most part, I have enjoyed the people I work with and will miss so many of them dearly.

So, with that, it’s time to move on. It’s time to try something new, and to take the leap that comes with it. It’s finally time for me to get a chance to better myself and grow professionally. Am I nervous? You bet. It’s really hard to push yourself out of that comfortable space, to leave the cocoon where you’ve been for so long.

But next Friday, I will clean out my desk and locker. I will give back my laptop. I will turn in my badge and my parking puck. I will say goodbye to the office that has been my second home for the past 7.5 years, and walk out for the last time as an employee.

It’s time to move forward, and I’m finally ready for that leap.

  1. Best of luck with your new job! I recently changed jobs after 20yrs. I was a teenager when I started! Now I’m married with 3 kids. My new job is going good. Just hard to change. I wish you all the best with your new path. Love the blog!

  2. Congratulations! I’m happy for you! I know change is really scary, at least for me. I have been in my present school (I’m a teacher) for 10 years, and I’d like to change. Our new house/community is literally across the road from a high school, and I hope to get a job there. It would cut my commute from 20 minutes to about 3 minutes. I think putting ourselves out there, out of our comfort zone, is an excellent way to grow professionally and personally. Best wishes!

  3. I missed this on IG. It’s scary to make a move but exciting, too! Best wishes for a smooth transition!

  4. I wish you the very best…stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring your options is wonderful and scary at once. You will shine in your new position, I am confident.
