Weekend Happenings, and Hot Yoga is NOT for Me

This weekend was a busy one!  After Abbie went to bed on Friday night, I started out our weekend with my weekly grocery shopping trip – I’m telling you, it’s SO much easier to go to the store alone!

Saturday we headed to Weight Watchers in the morning (down another .6 here!) then down to my parents’ house for the day.  Abbie loves playing with her aunts and seeing my parents – plus, there are different toys there.  Different toys are always better, right?  Of course, my mom also had to take Abbie into work on her day off to show her off to her coworkers…I wish I would’ve snapped a picture of her taking Abbie into the Wal-mart Pharmacy. Too funny.

One of the challenges of going to my parents’ house for the whole day is getting Abbie to nap well, since she’s out of her element.  Luckily, she was tired enough from all our running around that she fell asleep on me.  This is a girl who NEVER cuddles, so needless to say I soaked that up for a few minutes longer than necessary.

I also FINALLY saw Frozen with my sisters while my baby sister got ready for her junior prom.  How my baby sister is this old I’ll never know.  She looked so pretty and grown up – and recognize the dress?  It’s my MOH dress from Nichole’s wedding in September!  I’m so glad it got new life as her prom dress!

Sunday we spent playing at home, and in the afternoon I headed to a yoga class with my friend Ashley.  I hadn’t taken a yoga class since college, and the last time I took one, it was in a normal temperature room.  This room…was not room temperature – it was 96 degrees.  If you know me, you know I hate heat…and sweating.  (Hence why I do low and moderate intensity workouts and workouts in the pool!)  I was in there about 40 minutes before I realized I couldn’t handle the rest of it (it was a 90 minute class).  So hot yoga?  Not for me.  I HATE sweat…and there were people with pools of sweat dripping off of them….gross.  I figure that at least I tried it, but I’ll be sticking with normal temperature rooms for yoga going forward!

After that, we had spinach manicotti for dinner (I need to post that recipe!), and Abbie was covered in it by the end of dinner.  Silly girl.

  1. You know, I’ve heard people talk about hot yoga and I just don’t think it would be my thing either! When I exercise my body rarely sweats enough in the first place, I just get a super red face, so I would have NO desire to exercise in a 96-degree room! Good for you for trying it out! Sounds like a great weekend 🙂

  2. Jess-
You look great in the pic with your sister! Your hard work at WW is really paying off! Keep it up!

  3. I love taking Mia to my parents house because she has so stinking much fun but I’m with you… the napping is rough! She rarely gets enough sleep so I get to go home with a less than happy baby, HA!
I’ve never tried hot yoga and I don’t see the appeal. I get so hot when I work out anyway…. why would I want to add to the heat by doing it in a hot room? No thank you!

    1. It took SO long for me to figure out how to get her to nap there. She just likes her own space! And yeah, I definitely don’t recommend hot yoga!

  4. congrats on the weight loss! woohoo!! and yay for extra cuddles those almost never happen here either!

  5. Yeah, the hot yoga would be a definite no-go for me as well. Blech!! Plus, I’m a wuss. So there’s that.

That’s so awesome your sister could reuse your bridesmaids dress! I wish there were more opportunities to reuse those things. They’re always gorgeous but you never have anywhere else to wear them to. Super cool!

    1. I know, I was so thankful all that money wasn’t just for one use! It’s a full length dress, so it would be really hard for me to wear it again, but it worked for her to wear to prom!

  6. Oh, hot yoga. I went to several of those classes a few weeks before my wedding and I’m certain that’s what helped me fit into my wedding dress. Hot yoga is CRAZY, though! I definitely felt sick the first time from not drinking enough water.
